I am trying to set up a remote desktop connection for the first time. I am using Netgear Router R7000, I have unabled the Dynamic DNS Servie that comes with the router, Remote desktop connetions is enabled on my pc, and have setup firewall to allow port 3389. However I am still unable to connect to I had a problem with remote desktop login while hardwired to the router. It worked fine while in wireless mode. My problem was with DNS lookup. While hardwired the router was forcing its own DNS look-up and coming up with a bogus IP addess that was NOT the IP address of the remote computer.
