I can successfully ping the instance having IP 10.0.0.2 from the machine on which devstack is installed. But, I cannot ping the instance having IP 10.0.0.4. I have made sure that both the instances have the same Security Group. In short, I cannot ping any instance with IP other than 10.0.0.2. What could be the reason for that?

The important point to note is that the VIP listed here matches the value returned by the ping -c5 myservice command. Feel free to create a new docker exec session to the service task (container) running on node2 and perform the same ping -c5 service command To check if there is no route on the local host to the remote, ping the remote client ping , and then check ARP entry arp on the local host if it got resolved. If it is incomplete for the remote-host-ip, then it means the ping ICMP packet never left the local host machine, the local machine doesn't know where to send the packet
